Some simple candle safety tips need to be observed whenever you use candles. Fires can destroy property, or worse, end lives. Make sure to follow all ten of the following candle safety tips every time you burn candles.
1) Never leave candles unattended. They can fall, flare higher than you expected, and ignite something, burning down the home.
2) Monitor candles around children or pets. They are unaware of the dangers fires pose, and could accidentally start a fire.
3) Never burn candles near flammable items. Paper, fabrics, plants, your own hair, or even loose fitting clothing can ignite easily and start a fire.
4) Always use a heat-resistant surface. A burning candle can damage objects that are not heat resistant, or heat them up and start a fire.
5) Never burn candles while you sleep. They are relaxing and beautiful, but if you are not able to monitor them, it is dangerous.
6) Remove debris from candles. Even the tiniest speck of debris can ignite a candle and start an out of control fire.
7) Avoid wind and drafts because they can blow the flame, igniting something.
8) Don’t move a burning candle. You could drop the candle and start a fire or spill the hot wax and burn skin or damage things.
9) Extinguish the candle if the flame gets too big so it doesn’t start a fire.
10) Don’t use chemically saturated candles. The fumes contaminate the air indoors or out and pose health risks. Use only all natural candles.

Candles to Break Up
Take two tealight candles of any color. Write your name on one, and the name of the person you want to break up with on the other. Tie them together, binding them tightly enough that they will not become separated without help. Leave the candles together on your magical working space overnight, and in the morning, complete the spell. Begin by saying, “The universe brought us together, and now our paths are leading us in separate directions. Let us both take the good from this relationship and heal from what hurt us, moving forward into new love.” Then, separate the candles, and light your candle on your personal altar.
